Born in 1957, Andra Lasmanis, became short film commisioner 1 January 2009.

Andra grew up in a Latvian family in the Stockholm suburb of Bredäng. Educated at the University College of Film, Radio, Television and Theatre, she has worked as a cinematographer on a number of films and television series, many of which have won Swedish and international awards.
Andra has also directed a film of her own, The Adventures of Aligermaa, which won a Guldbagge Award for Best Short Film. She has also taught and been an examiner at the University College of Film, Radio, Television and Theatre and the School of Photography at Göteborg University, and has been a lecturer in Cinematography at the Nordic Film School in Lillehammer.
Films and television dramas she has worked on as cinematographer include Stig Larsson's "Rabbit Man", Clas Lindberg's "Underground Secrets", Rumle Hammerich's "Can You Whistle, Johanna?", Martin Asphaug's "Det grovmaskiga nätet" and "Ett enklare liv" by Marcus Olsson.
