Born in 1955 in Vännäs in northern Sweden, Lars G Lindström took over as Feature Film Commissioner on 1 September 2009. He joins the Film Institute from Nordisk Film, where he worked as a producer. Prior to that he was an artistic director, producer and project leader at Stockholms Stadsteater.

Lars G Lindström's recent productions include animated short film series Rocky, the award-winning Den man älskar (To Love Someone, 2007) and Babylonsjukan (2004). He directed and wrote the screenplay for Miljonerna på fickan (1989), and his writing collaborations with Åke Sandgren include Stora och små män (Big Men, Little Men, 1995). He has also worked in casting and as a director's assistant.
He worked as a producer at Stockholms Stadsteater for more than fifteen years. During his time there he introduced a number of highly popular innovations including Klara Soppteater, together with Helge Skoog. He also founded and was the artistic director of Backstage, an autonomous and experimental theatre group for young people
In addition to film studies, Lars G Lindström gained broad experience of film in the university city of Umeå, where he started a film cooperative, edited an arts magazine and was a board member of the Umeå Film Studio.
