Malik Bendjelloul's documentary Searching for Sugar Man has already been screened at the Sundance Film Festival. Its subject is the folk singer Sixto Rodriguez, who gave up his career after two albums that flopped in the 70s, but then went on to bigger sales in South Africa than even The Rolling Stones, something he remained completely unaware of for 25 years. Sofia Norlin's feature debut Tenderness (Ömheten), winner of the Feature Fund at the Stockholm Film Festival, looks at youngsters growing up in the northern Swedish town of Kiruna and stars Sebastian Hiort af Ornäs of Sebbe in one of the leading roles.

Among the shorts there are a number of documentaries, including Grandpa and the Genius (Morfar och snillet) by Åsa Blanck and Johan Palmgren, in which a little boy with extraordinary powers of thought enjoys conversation with his wise, bed-ridden and humorous grandfather. In The Wave (Vågen) Hanna Heilborn decides to learn to surf before she turns 40 and ends up with a broken nose, a dislocated knee and a bad case of tonsillitis. And in Beaverhat (Samtidigt är varje bäver en personlighet), Malin Skjöld tells us how that animal became virtually extinct because of the desire of gentlemen in Europe and North America to own a hat made form felted beaver fur.
