Record year for Sweden in Berlin

Årets svenska deltagande vid den internationella filmfestivalen i Berlin är av rekordklass, inte bara för Sverige utan för hela Norden. Dessutom är fyra av filmerna debutverk. Utöver de nio titlar som redan meddelats har även kortfilmen Havet av Jöns Jöns

Features

Mammoth by Lukas Moodysson (competing in the main section).
Moodysson returns with a big budget film about globalisation and family priorities. Michelle Williams and Gael Garcia Bernal star.

Glowing Stars by debut director Lisa Siwe (competing in Generation 14plus).
A 14 year-old is torn between her mother, who is suffering from cancer, and living life to the full.
 
The Eagle Hunter's Son by René Bo Hansen (competing in Generation Kplus).
Adventure film shot Mongolia about a 12 year-old boy's dreams of life beyond the Steppes.

Mamma Moo & Crow by Igor Vejštagin (competing in Generation Kplus).
Animated children's film about the popular Mamma Moo who finds a new friend in Crow.

The Girl by debut director Fredrik Edfeldt (competing in Generation Kplus).
A 10 year-old girl is abandoned by her family to discover the irresponsible world of adults for herself.

Burrowing by debut directors Fredrik Wenzel and Henrik Hellström (Forum).
Poetic and philosophical view of the world through the eyes of 11 year-old Sebastian.

Mr Governor by debut director Måns Månsson (Forum).
Cinéma vérité documentary in black and white about the everyday life of a local Swedish politician.

Short films

Slaves by David Aronowitsch and Hanna Heilborn (competing in Generation 14plus).
Animated short documentary in which two Sudanese boys tell the true story of their dreadful experiences in slavery and their dreams for the future.

Spot and Splodge in Snowstorm by Uzi Geffenblad och Lotta Geffenblad (competing in Generation Kplus).
Animated children's film. Spot and Splodge get lost in a snowstorm.

The Sea by Jöns Jönsson (competing in Berlinale Shorts).
A German production with a Swedish director and Swedish actors. Lennart Jähkel and Ann Petrén play a married couple whose dreams start to unravel after a much longed-for move to the seaside.
