Plot summary:
When an abducted young woman calls the police for help, investigator Ewa Moreno picks up the phone. Sadly, she fails in her attempt to rescue the girl and finds her burnt to death clutching a silver cross. A girlfriend of the victim reveals a secret and Moreno turns to her mentor Van Veeteren for advice, when the killer makes contact demanding to get his cross back - or the girlfriend will die. Another kidnapping and a new race against the clock begin - a second chance for Moreno?
