Born in 1975, Åsa Garnert took over as Head of Communications in November 2007.

Åsa began her career at the Film Institute in 2003, working for a while with film policy coordination before moving to her current department, initially as a press officer. Prior to this, she worked as a journalist and was head of the Uppsala International Short Film Festival.
