Cissi Elwin Frenkel has a background in journalism and television production. She has worked as a reporter, editor-in-chief, television presenter and producer. To the general public in Sweden, she is best known for the cult television programme for young people, Bullen, which she co-presented with Martin Timell for several years. She also worked on a wide variety of arts and entertainment programmes.

During her television career, Cissi was the recipient of a number of prestigious awards, including Female Television Personality of the Year. In 2005 she picked up the Young Manager of the Year award, since when she has been much in demand as a speaker for seminars and events on management issues.

From 2000 to 2006 she was editor-in-chief of Sweden's biggest selling weekly magazine, Ica-kuriren. Under her stewardship, the magazine underwent radical change and modernisation, emerging as one of the most profitable titles in Sweden. Prior to taking up her post at the Film Institute, Cissi headed up the Forma Publishing Group, where she was responsible for magazine and new business launches.
